HeLa cell expressing
endoplasmic reticulum targeted GFP and mitochondrially targeted
DsRed2. This is a 5 min time course of an unusually dynamic cell.
The ER's motion shows the tubule branching, ring closure and sliding
that was classically described by Lee & Chen (Cell,
1988,54(1):37-46).
The mitochondria also show very dynamic behaviour, at one point
carving a path through the ER (starting at 230s;
right-middle). A mitochondrial fusion event can be seen also in
frame 230s (centre, lower-left). 5µm scale bar.
