Our Goal
The goal of the Division is to carry out excellent research to understand health and health-related outcomes in the population.
Scientists in this division perform research in the general areas of population health, health services research, and clinical epidemiology.
Population health research addresses the question of why some people are health and others are not.
It seeks to understand the determinants of health and to improve the health of populations.
Researchers hope to gain a better understanding of the factors leading to a health population as well as how to prevent and reduce the impact of health conditions, injury and disability.
Health Services research is concerned with the relationships between needs, demand, supply, use and outcomes of health services.
Clinical epidemiology is the application of epidemiologic principles and methods to problems encountered in clinical medicine.
