Centre for Prognosis in Rheumatic Diseases

Who we are:

The Centre for Prognosis Studies in the Rheumatic Diseases consolidates out-patient care, teaching and research diseases within one clinic location.  The Centre uses “databank” research to focus on long-term epidemiological study of rheumatic disorders, involving long-term observation of clinical features, treatment and its effects on large patient bases over a long period of time.  The Centre staff is headed by Dr. Dafna D. Gladman and  Dr. Murray B. Urowitz.

Current areas of study include Systemic Lupus

Erythematosus(SLE), with The Lupus Databank Research being one of the largest databanks of its kind internationally, the Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) Research Program, and the Atherosclerosis in SLE (SLICC) Research Program.

As of Jan. 2012, the Lupus Clinic has 1600 patients enrolled and being followed according to a research protocol since 1970.  The Psoriatic Arthritis Clinic and the SLICC Clinic has 1170 and 1800 patients enrolled and being followed respectively.
