Requesting UHN Materials
Research materials developed at UHN are transferred to non-profit research institutes with a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) in place.
MTAs are important because they:
- Establish terms for the use of research materials.
- Monitor users and deter unauthorized transfer of materials to third parties.
- Regulate ownership of further intellectual property generated from use of the material.
- Warn about the use of material and have users assume liabilities for their use of the material.
Any request for materials should be submitted directly to our office at:

Accessing UHN Confidential Information
Research Institutes and Companies that wishes to discuss with a UHN investigator his/her work, should contact the TDC office to prepare and execute a Confidential Disclosure Agreement (CDA) on behalf of UHN.
CDAs are important because they:
- Establish terms for sharing confidential materials, knowledge, or information in order to protect disclosure of any type of proprietary information.
- Outline the scope of the confidential information that the parties wish to share.
- Protect patentability.
UHN's standard CDA ensures that disclosures in either direction, intended or otherwise, are covered by confidentiality.
